The humble mailbox is the temporary home of our much awaited
letters; a little place to relax before being grabbed
and ripped apart by us eager recipients.
Some mailboxes are bright, funny or creative. Many lack imagination and appear quite sad. Some stand alone in total isolation, while others occupy a small space beside a multitude of others. One thing for certain is that they all form a special part of the letter writing process.
If your mailbox could talk, what would it say? It might receive many
colourful postcards each year from all over the world. It might have
witnessed a major event in your street, or received a letter from a
very famous person. It might have housed a letter that touched your
heart forever, or survived a natural disaster. It might also be the
home to some strange little creatures …
We thought it was time to give recognition to this structure that
makes it possible for us to receive the letters that bring so much
friendship and fun into our lives.
Hence, we are beginning a mailbox journey around the
world to find 'IPF's Mailbox of the Year'.
To enter the competition
you must have a current paid subscription to IPF's
People & Places magazine
(this includes at least the 2005 No. 1 or 2006 No. 1 edition). |

Just send your full name, postal address,
year of birth, together with your e-mail address
(if you have one), and a signature from a parent
or guardian, (if you are under 18 years of age),
and a picture of your mailbox (you can also be in
the picture, that is optional) and in 400 words
or less, tell us why you would like your mailbox
to be 'IPF's Mailbox of the Year'. The winning entries
will be shown in People & Places in the first
edition to be published after the judging has taken
place. Address details of entrants will not be published
(unless requested by the entrant/s).
All mailboxes qualify. There are no minimum or maximum age
restrictions. Size does not matter. There are no geographical
boundaries.
Your entry can be funny or serious. Let your imagination run wild, or just tell it from the heart.
Entries close 31 August 2006. So get thinking, photographing and writing. You could be a winner! (One entry per subscriber, please.)
